Blog 8: The subject I liked this semester
Hi everyone!
This semester I have had several courses, but the one I
found most interesting is Environmental Geography. This branch of geography is
the integration of all the components of space, being deeper than the concept
of environment. That is to say, it is not enough with the detailed study of the
elements that make up the geographic space, it is also necessary to understand
the interrelationships that arise between them.
A very interesting topic in this subject is the hydro-social cycle of water, since the traditional water cycle (evaporation, condensation, precipitation and filtration) is not enough to explain the developm
ent and behavior of water resources today, and it is necessary to include in the study the role of human beings as the main actor in the availability, quantity and quality of water in the world.
The reason why I like this topic is that it responds to the
consequences that exist on the use of water in indigenous communities, such as
the Altiplano communities, which are threatened by the economic progress of
large-scale mining and the world order.
